Frequently asked questions.

What styles of counseling do you use?

At Counseling with Colleen, I use a combination of evidenced based practices that cater to each client individually. I am a relational based therapist and pull from Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, and EMDR to provide a full spectrum of support for my clients.

How much are your sessions?

I charge $140 per session for individual counseling and $175 per hour for family counseling. Family counseling includes siblings, or parent-child.

What insurances do you take?

Right now, I do not take any in-network insurance. I offer Superbills (detailed receipts that you can submit to your insurance) in order to  get reimbursed if your insurance offers out of network coverage. I can also help you figure out if you have any out of network coverage- reach out for more info! At the bottom of this page, you can find a tool that will help you understand your out of network deductible and co-pay (Thrizer Widget).

Can we walk and talk?

Yes, there is a trail right by my office that offers a beautiful and quiet place in downtown Colorado Springs to walk as we do therapy if you are interested.

Do you use EMDR and what is EMDR?

Yes, I am trained in EMDR through Trauma Therapy Institute. I have used EMDR with many clients over the years and have seen incredible results from clients who trusted the process.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of psychotherapy developed to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on reprocessing painful memories so that they no longer feel as triggering or overwhelming.
